True to the ecological and environmental values that are part of the DNA of our company and our employees, we support the Nationalen Dag vum Bam and the Rainforest association. We are publishing this article to raise as many people’s awareness as possible of a cause that concerns us all – reforestation – and we hope that some of you will want to join one of these associations or contribute to their efforts.

The Nationalen Dag vum Bam
Le Nationalen Dag vum Bam was introduced in Luxembourg in 1992 under the official name “Journée nationale de l’arbre”. It is held every year at the beginning of November and was under the patronage of Grand Duke Jean from 1997 until his death in 2019.
It is a ceremony, held in a different municipality each year, during which a tree is planted in a specially prepared area.
You too can take part in the next Nationalen Dag vum Bam as a member or as a volunteer, and you can also make a donation to the association Natur&ëmwelt which organises this event.
Natur&ëmwelt runs a number of nature and environmental protection events throughout the year. Its website also offers an interesting and varied range of educational resources aimed at young and old alike.
For the 2021 edition, we planted a quince tree on the company grounds. With a bit of luck, we’ll be able to make quince jelly in a few years’ time.

This planting completes the redesign of our green space – an area which, with its late-mown flower meadow, plants and shrubs, offers a small oasis for insects and bees in our business park.

Rainforest: forest enthusiasts.
Because protecting nature and reforestation are universal concerns that extend far beyond our borders, we also support another Luxembourg association: Rainforest
The website of Rainforest doesn’t beat about the bush and confronts you straight away with a reality: every Luxembourg citizen emits 1.5 tonnes of CO2 for every 10,000 km driven in their car (for a medium-sized vehicle).
Rainforest’s solution for offsetting these emissions is simple: plant trees. On average, a planted tree will absorb 500 kg of CO2 as it grows. So all you need to do is get out your calculator to work out how many trees you need to fund through Rainforest to offset your emissions.

Rainforest – 2021 donation certificate
To show our support for Rainforest, since 2016 we have stopped giving end-of-year gifts and instead invest the amount we would have spent on them in the Costa Rica reforestation programme that Rainforest runs in partnership with the University of Vienna.
