Since our company was founded, we have believed in the benefits of the values of mutual respect and sharing. This belief – which is part of our DNA – shapes the relationships we have with the members of our team. It is by all working together in this way, hand in hand, that we ensure long-term job security and build a pleasant working environment.

In this article, we wanted to give you a few examples of the non-mandatory rules that we, the managers of de Buedemleër, have chosen to introduce in the company.
Training, well-being and safety at work:
In order to constantly improve the know-how of the whole team and maintain a pleasant and safe working environment, we continually invest in training our staff and in acquiring high-performance equipment. In practice, this means:
- initial and continuing training;
- modern tools and machines;
- vans fitted with professional shelving;
- workwear and safety equipment;
- the introduction of the 5S methodology to improve organisation at work

Motivating and improving the working environment
As motivation naturally also involves recognition in terms of pay, we offer:
- two attendance bonuses a year;
- one performance bonus a year;
- bonuses for strenuous and/or less pleasant work;
- additional leave based on length of service;
- each employee’s birthday is their own personal public holiday.

A policy of vertical and horizontal exchange between team members, which involves:
- an annual framework for dialogue (formal, structured and systematic) between employees and their manager through ECAUD (creative development exchanges);
- a management that always listens to employees and is keen to meet the needs (professional and private) of all team members;
- respect for the need for a balance between private and professional life. Introduction of flexible working hours (in the office), part-time work, parental leave (for dads too) and additional leave.

Livening up company life with informal get-togethers
We never forget to enjoy good times together, organising several activities outside work during the year:

visit to SES and the Rebierg water tower in Hivange
- outings, team-building events and taking part in group outdoor activities;

Treetop adventure course at “Parc Le’h Adventures”

Laser tag in Hollerich

Karting in Mondercange

Crocus escape room
- a family party welcoming family members and our former colleagues;

Summer party at the Prënzebierg
- Christmas dinner.

Looking to the future
To ensure that the pool of trained technical staff is sufficient and keeps renewing itself, it is important for professionals like us to get involved in training young apprentices. To this end, we have set up our “Léier by de Buedemleër” training programme, which gives young people the opportunity to learn a trade and offers them prospects. Running an international apprentice exchange earned us the Best Training Company award in 2017.

As mindsets change, and given the shortage of skilled labour in the trades we offer, we are aware that to attract new generations we need to create a pleasant working atmosphere for everyone.
Conclusion
A family-run, artisanal company since 1994. We are aware that the company’s success can only be achieved with a professional and motivated team.
We have always asked a great deal of our team members, but we also give a great deal in return, as shown by our values, 4 out of 6 of which focus on taking our employees’ interests into account:
